There are many considerations that go into choosing a standout audition song. I think these are very important:
- Does it showcase the part of the voice / vocal technique that the role you are working toward showcases? (If a character belts in the show, it’s good to belt in your audition song!)
- Is it age-appropriate? (Nobody wants to see a 12-year-old sing about *adult* themes.)
- Is your audition song in the musical style of the show you’re auditioning for? (Rock for rock, classical for classical!)
- Will the pianist be able to play the accompaniment?
- Can you find an audition cut that fits the audition time requirements?
Now that you know what to look for, feel free to take my audition song idea quiz or check out the entire list of songs for girls below!
